A Personal Thank You

Toys from Home
Click the link for the video.

We have been inundated with kindness and generosity from the folks back home recently. Last week I received nearly twenty care packages from my collegues at Noblestar, my family and from strangers through the AnySoldier.com program. I wanted to do something to show everyone back home who has been sending toys, school supplies and candy that their generosity is bringing smiles to the faces of the children of Afghanistan and directly impacting the lives of others. Thank you all, but especially my "Memaw", Ann and "The Happy Meal Lady", for your generosity...and I can't forget my mom and my wife.

If you feel like sending more, please do. We'll put it to good use. We're adopting a 1000-student girl's school down the road soon. We should have no problem giving away toys and school supplies! And don't forget Operation Flintstone. It's supposed to be a hard winter this year. We can use all the health and medical supplies you can spare.

"A picture is worth a thousand words;" but a video is better!
Thanks for putting faces with what we are trying to accomplish through you!

I watched the video four or five times in a row, each time with no small struggle to keep the mist from flooding up my eyes.
I was overwhelmed with a strange combination of feelings: a deep felt awareness of how much I miss my son who is so far away in a place where many would wish him harm; combined with an equal and balancing sense of pride in what you, and all those who are participating, are doing in winning the real war of hearts and minds.
Perhaps it's only natural that such warming of a father's heart should result in a little optical leakage. Either that, or I'm just somewhat of a Wuss.
I miss you, Son! Keep up the good work!

Steven - That is the best "Thank you" I have ever received and I am sure everyone at Noblestar and Harris County will feel the same. It makes me realize the adage "It is the little things that count" is truly an accurate saying.

I read passages from your family and friends and I realize where your quintessence comes from. This is why people want to do so much to help you. You and the others over there are the reason all of us have found the generosity in our hearts. So while I appreciate the thank you more then you may ever know, thank yourself and the other men and woman over there. They are the reason we are so generous.

Over here, in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, I have never been so proud of my fellow Americans. So many at Noblestar and so many of my friends have told me stories of people coming together to help others in need. My emotions have been overwhelmed by this generosity.

Take care of yourself!

Ann
