Spring Offensive Has Begun

The number of attacks on Coalition forces in Afghanistan is on the rise again. This usually happens after the winter thaw. Much of the activity is in the vicinity of area of operations where I have been assigned. Operational security prevents me from saying where I'm going and when. But this latest attack involving the Marines took place very close to where we'll be headed. I really hope the additional force protection measures don't interfere too much with our CA work. Safety is paramount but I don't like the idea of our efforts being hampered by a few holdouts with AKs.

In other news, Hamid Kharzi's government has announced an amnesty to include Mullah Mohammad Omar and Gulbuydin Hekmatyr. Might as well include Bin Laden! I'm all for reconciliation and peace but I can't imagine that the United States government will let Omar walk away from this.
